King Christian X

Denmark lost the provinces of Schleswig and Holstein to Prussia/Austria following the Second War of Schleswig (1864) all down to the river Kongeaaen.

Following the end of "World War I" a referendum in which the populations of Schleswig and Holstein were asked to chose which country they wished to belong to in future led to a partly reunification in 1920. My father, Oscar - then 20 years old, and his bigger brother Ejler, went to the festivities the app. 170 km each way - on bikes! I would think he bought most of this border-series at that occasion.

The postcards showing the border posts all are from the period up to 1920.
